How to Set Time on Keurig Duo Plus
I love my Keurig K-Duo Plus™coffee maker and today I am going to share how I learned to use my Keurig.
When it comes to coffee, we have a slight coffee problem in our home. I like one very large cup of coffee in the morning, but my son Michael likes one small cup of premium brand coffee that can be brewed very fast (he has early morning practice every day). I finally found the perfect solution with the Keurig® K-Duo Plus™ Single Serve & Carafe Coffee Maker. Today I am going to share how to use a Keurig K-Duo Plus.
This K-Duo Plus™coffee maker is one coffee maker with two ways to brew. It makes a cup and a carafe which is deal for both of us. Cup and carafe, one brewer, many delicious possibilities! I also can't believe how quickly I figured out how to use a Keurig® K-Duo Plus™ coffee machine. This is my veryfirst Keurig® and you won't believe it either!
I am thrilled I found a coffee machine that makes a fast single cup and a pot up to 12 cups. The K-Duo Plus™coffee maker is the perfect brewer for any occasion. And it's so easy to use. My son Michael has mastered the K-Cup® pods feature and I make a small carafe. Every single morning. It's perfect for both of us. The Keurig® K-Duo Plus™ Single Serve & Carafe Coffee Maker can be found here on Amazon.
How to Use a Keurig® Single Serve with K-Cup® pods
Before I get started, I thought I would share a link to the User's Guide on the Keurig website. This Keurig k-duo plus manual should help with any questions you may have.
Would you like to know how to use the Keurig® K-Duo Plus™ coffee maker?
The first thing you need to do is fill up the water tank to use either feature. Turn on the machine and lift the pod holder to insert a K-Cup® pod. Lower the handle completely to close the lid.
2. Place your coffee mug on the drip tray base. (Can you tell this machine fits travel mug sizes too!)
3. Select the K-Cup® pod feature on the top of the machine and then select your brew size. For a bolder coffee, press the STRONG button before pressing the brew button. That's all you have to do as your cup will be ready in no time.
Important Tip About How to Use a Keurig
If you ever find that your machine won't make the coffee, it is likely the ground coffee holder is not pushed in entirely. It took me a while to figure that out and I wanted to share this to save you some time and frustration.
How to Use aKeurig® K-Duo Plus™ Single Serve & Carafe Coffee Makerto Brew a Carafe of Coffee
I enjoy one large cup of coffee to start out every day. Typically I enjoy one large cup of coffee each day. The K-Duo Plus™ coffee maker can be paused mid-brew for 20 seconds, so you can pour fresh, hot coffee right away. I love that feature becomes sometimes this gal needs her coffee right away! I can also set my preferred brew time up to 24 hours in advance and enjoy a freshly brewed carafe whenever I want it.
- Once again, fill the water reservoir if needed to the MAX fill line.
- Pull the filter basket drawer outward and add the desired amount of ground coffee. One tablespoon per cup is recommended.
3. Reinsert the filter basket drawer and make sure the carafe is in the drip tray.
4. Press the power button and select CARAFE (on the left side) and select your brew size. Press the BREW button and select STRONG if you want a stronger coffee. Obviously I select the STRONG button every time!
With multiple brew sizes, you can make a 6, 8, 10, or 12-cup carafe for large gatherings, as well as a 6, 8, 10, or 12 oz. cup just for you. You can brew the perfect amount of fresh, full-flavored coffee whether you're hosting friends or just enjoying a cup – and a moment – to yourself!
How to Set Keurig Duo to Auto Brew
Fill the water reservoir to the MAX fill line and load the mesh filter and coffee grounds. Press the AUTO button. Use the H/M buttons to set the time for auto brew to begin, press the blinking brew button to confirm the time.
1. Choose your brew size, then press the blinking brew button to confirm the size.
2. The AUTO brew setup is now complete. A clock icon will appear on the screen and the AUTO button will be illuminated to signal AUTO is on.

The Keurig I have gives me the option of three different sizes to make I can also make it stronger if I want. I probably spend more buying the pods but love not messing with coffee grounds and how fast it makes the coffee.
I'm sorry, but Keurig pods are one of the biggest plastic environment polluters. They never break down and are becoming as prevalent as plastic water bottles, littering our earth. It makes me sad to see people using them and promoting them. The epitome of laziness.
I bought 2 reusable pod cup and use regular coffee. I love it because you can put more or less coffee in depending on how big the cup. I have a coffee tin that I throw used grounds into for my garden beds.
I can't find a reusable pod that fits the k-duo. Can you help?
I thought the same thing when I bought the duo. The keurig reusable k cup works you just have to remove the pod holder with the needle that pokes a hole in the disposable pod. You do this by pulling the handle where the basket is that holds the grounds when you make a carafe. Pull that all the way out and sit it aside stick your finger in and push up this will pop out the disposable holder put the basket back and now your reusable k cup will fit. When you use the carafe you have to put the piece u remove back in.
Thank you so much for the instructions. Looking forward to using my reusable k-cup again!
Of course! I am so glad you found helpful.
I found it at target. It's item 072081497 if that is helpful
Thanks Ester! I appreciate you passing this along to me.
I just read on the Keurig website that they are now using recycled materials for their Kcups and also are making the Kcups recyclable as well. By the end of 2020 they'll be 100% recyclable. That's cool.
So great to hear!
Where do you buy reusable pod cups for this machine?
I get them on Amazon.
How do you brew 12 cups of coffe in the carafe if the water reservoir only holds 64oz/8cups? My maker came up with add water when I did the carafe process reset and asked me to select one of all 4 brew sizes
5oz is considered a cup in the keurig info..so 12 cups is 60 oz..the max it makes
Just got mine a week ago and the first thing I noticed the reservoir never empties when I'm brewing 12 cups. It always leaves water at about the minimum fill line. I'm not using the strong setting. Even if I fill up just past the maximum line, it still leaves about 2 cups. I called Keurig and they were no help. The coffee is perfect and I love having the water reservoir on the side but don't get why it's not using all the water.
If it is similar to other kuerig makers, some water remains to allow a magnet to float down until the refill lights come on, i.e. all water isn't used.
So we just got one and I had the same question. We figured out that you brew the coffee with the top on the carafe and it empties the reservoir.
We still had the water in the bottom with the top on the carafe. Do people not use the lid/top? Just asking. 🙂
What kind of water do I need to use I. My new Keurig Duo Plus since it has a filter..

You are so welcome!
Anybody else find that their coffee is not hot coming out of the pot after brewing? Ours is not a year old yet. Called keurig and only suggestion was to run a cup of hot water first to heat the element…not seeing much change. Thought there might have been a recall on the heating element…..
I am sorry, I haven't ran into this but it sounds like maybe keep following up with Keurig about the issue. Sorry, friend!
I just bought a duo from BJs. On the carafe it has a measurement for 4 cups but the brew cycle only goes to 6 cups as lowest. Has anyone brewed 4 cups?
How can you use the pods for the carafe? Or is it grounds in the basket only?
How do I know when the carafe is done brewing?
Useful information on making coffee with keurig coffee maker. It will be very helpful for me. Thanks!
